Hello People

Im relatively new to this game (and this forum ) and have noticed what I think is something verrry strange. Why is it that even when all Finnish rail lines are cleared and there are no Russian units west of lake Ladoga that Finnish units are at supply level 0 while in their own country? Why are they out of supply at all on the Karelian isthmus? Also to a greater extent I have seen Finnish Corps dwindle down to almost nothing in the north while Russian units suffer no such penalty. This happens even when the Finnish units are on or near a friendly and cleared rail line. Can someone give me an answer as to why the game was designed like this?

For Finland, the Axis units get supply from Helsinki at a level of 5. Rail conversion for supply happens at a level of 2 or less below the current max supply level. Thus, when Blitzkrieg supply of greater than 6 is in effect, the Finnish supply level of 5 prevents any rail conversion. I believe this was done on purpose to limit the Finnish advance until later, or else the Finns alone could capture Leningrad while the Soviets suffer their penalties at the start of the 1941 campaign. This is just my guess though.

Wow thats one hell of a penalty! The game designer must have wanted players to follow historical tactics and political considerations when playing WIR. Thanks for the response RickyB it shed some light on my problems in the Great White North.:D
