PBEM questions

I use SPWaW v7.1

I noticed some odd things:

- First, whenever we exchange our files, we generally change their names (to save them in different slots and keep the history of the game), and change the content of "emailXXX.cmt" to know which turn we are playing. Problem is, then the engine always ask if we want to Override Security blablabla. The message is always "Player 1 OOB corrupt", what does it means ?
I think we both play SPWaW7.1 .

- Second, something really odd, I create a scenario, me in delay, my friend in advance. I buy first, send the file, he buys and deploys, I get the file, I begin deployment.

I put some scout very near the front line, and they spot his units ! Now I know where he will attack !

Is that normal ?

Does that mean that in a defense scenario, the defender should always buy second to deploy first, not knowing where the attack will come from ?

As I finish deployment and begin the first turn he suffered heavy artillery shell on concentration of units I spotted on the map without him having the chance to begin to play. A bit unfair.

- Third, during a game, artillery sequence, his planes are entering the map to bombard me at the end of my turn. If they pass over his minefields or his units, I spot them on the map !

Are we playing PBEM completely wrong or what ???

Now a question:
When I play solo, during the computer turn, I may have a chance to see its movement, spot unit here and there, even if they disappeared when my turn come.
Obviously not the case in PBEM, but is there a feature mimicking it ?
(Is the the Replay button for that and how do you use it ?)

Thanks for your help,

Cat

One of you probably has newer OOBs. This generally does not cause a problem.

Your friend needs to deploy with his men out of LOS of your units. This situation can either be viewed as a glitch or as poor deployment practice by your opponent. If you just keep placing men all over the map to "spy" on him and then redeploy once you spot him, this is not very sporting of you. It is mostly just a problem the first to deploy has to deal with in a high visibility game.

- Third, during a game, artillery sequence, his planes are entering the map to bombard me at the end of my turn. If they pass over his minefields or his units, I spot them on the map !

I think this is definitely a glitch in the game and I have noticed it as well.

To view your PBEM opponent's turn just click the green VCR button towards the bottom on the right side of the screen. It will replay your opponents turn, but you only see shots fired. So you could miss a whole column of armor driving right by your men if no one shoots at anyone. This is why it is important to set your Op Fire ranges longer on a few of your units. It is worth it to risk giving away your position if your opponent is trying to slip several fast movers into your backfield.

Thanks.

I have also learned that H2H corrected the plane bug...
