I dug up an old file and found an example of this movement past a zoc.

Play back the turn, password is ‘pickle’. Note how the 2nd NZ Mech XX and 23rd X move past my zoc’s and infiltrate my line. This move ultimately cost me this line which I had been defending quite easily.

Frank can you explain this?

Currently that's allowed. Your defending unit was attacked which temporarily cancelled its ZoC. The units that were able to infiltrate are stopped by other ZoCs and won't be able to continue further next turn since they are starting in a ZoC. But it does allow the attacker to get more units into position to launch future attacks from.

Thank you Frank. Things like this should be mentioned in the manual I would think.
