Bridging Large Bodies of Water

I've figured out a way to do this.

Start by building a bridge segment on the near side.

Once the bridge segment is built, give the unit a movement order with just one waypoint. If the body of water has no bridges across it at this point, you need to set the waypoint on the near side.

Once the move order is committed, move the waypoint into the hex your just-built bridge segment leads to.

Once the move is completed, build another bridge segment.

Continue doing this until you lay a bridge segment that gets you to the far side.

Once you do that, you have a functioning (and long) bridge.

I don't know if this was possible on pre-2.05 versions.
