I don't want to spread panic but my Trojan Hunter detects trojans in some of the TOAW files. These can be false positives, of course. I don't know what to think about it...

I did some tests and it detects them on a fresh install. Also, I've never actually used those exe files.

The only people you might panic are those who are stupid enough to not run regular scans and do not have real time protection. Because you might have something nasty on your computer does not mean anyone else has something nasty on their computer. And yes, it could be a false positive. Trust nothing on the internet.

I don't have anything nasty on my computer apart, perhaps, from those files. It's been tested on more than one computer, with exactly the same result. It's either a false positive or the files ARE inflected. And yes, I do have a real time protection on my comp, Kaspersky. But Kaspersky doesn't detect it on everyday basis, if you want to know. It was only after I've scanned the folder with Trojan Hunter that the suspicious files were detected.

Anyway, Lobster, there is something strange about you and the way you treat people, which manifests itself not only in the above response but in hundreds of your other responses I've read on this forum. You're extremely cocky and rude... I wonder how old you are, as the quality of your responses imply your're probably not more than a maturing teen...

The post above was made in good faith, as a warning so that people may look around and see if they get any similar results, whereas you seem to treat it as some sort of personal attack on yourself or on the community. Calling people names? Because they wanted to warn fellow gamers? Well, thank you, that's a really interesting response...

I did not call you any names. And if someone is stupid enough not to protect their computer exactly how should the be referred to? Counter intelligent? Sorry, I don't buy into the P.C. hysteria. If someone does something stupid then that they are. Again, didn't call you anything. Why so defensive?

Also, you insinuate that perhaps Matrix has a virus attached to their software. You said after a fresh install. That sounds like an accusation, does it not? The fact that you even posted this and state that it's after a fresh install tells me you suspect Matrix enough to warn people. I'm just saying that no one should be concerned that Matrix is guilty of passing off Trojans which is exactly what you implied after saying it detected Trojans even after a fresh install. Is that cocky? No, it's defending Matrix. They do not pass off Trojans nor should they be accused, directly or indirectly, of doing so. Exactly who is being rude?

I also agreed with you, saying it probably was a false positive. But the positive comment I made goes unacknowledged while those that somehow seem to have bruised your psyche are pointed out. So who is attacking whom? I defended Matrix. I said people who don't protect against attacks are stupid because that is the truth. I agreed with you about false positives because I believed you were right to say that. Again, why so defensive?

Could you guys scan these files with what you have available and check if your scanners report anything suspicious? As my Kaspersky does not detect anything, I'm inclined to think that these are probably false positives, but you never know...

Adopting your line of reasoning, we shouldn't be allowed to report bugs, or technical problems. Let's delete the Support and Public Beta forums! People report bugs and technical problems there, did you know? Surely, they attack Matrix...

Analized with Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and nothing found, may be your PC is suffering some issue.

Yeah, I also have Kaspersky, and as I wrote above, I doesn't detect anything either. It's only Trojan Hunter that detects the suspected malware.


Anyway, I scanned the files with https://www.virustotal.com/. It didn't detect anything in most files. However, with regard to nktoawrez.exe, the Symantec scanner detected something, with all the other scanners detecting nothing though.

Well, implying a company is guilty of spreading malicious software actually is libel. But I don't think you would intentionally do something like that. I was just pointing out that you should not say a fresh install was possibly infected unless you know for a fact it actually is. Also, saying not to report bugs or technical problems is rather dramatic given software is seldom released without bugs. And since there are literally thousands of different machine configurations a technical issue for some is almost a given. Fairly everyone is aware of these things. I really don't see where I implied anything that you refer to. Technical problems and bugs are not malware nor computer viruses.

I scanned a fresh install, a freshly downloaded install and three old installs with McAfee, Norton, Ad-Aware Pro, Zone Alarm and AVG. Came up with nothing. Perhaps it's a technical issue with your machine. Certainly not something to stir up the community about with, 'don't panic but...'.

Good to know so many scanners didn't find anything. This seems to support my initial conjecture that it might be a false positive.

Norton 360 and Malwarebytes find nothing.
