New player - start with a mod?

Hi all,

My first question is very basic:

Are there any mods that are deemed required to make the game more enjoyable/playable (thinking interface here)

It has often been my experience that games with a long history have one or more "gotta have" mods just to start with.

Regards,

Nothing is required, but there are good mods. You don't really need to add extra races or up the difficulty at the beginning.

The one that could help you is Das' UI mod. It replaces icon with some that are a more intuitive. I live happily without it, though.

I'd suggest to install the "Das Chrome UI" mod (tm.asp?m=3616300). It doesn't change the gameplay at all, but replaces the resource icons so that they're much more helpful. Now you can actually see at a glance what kind of resource you are dealing with. See also tm.asp?m=3708946 for some more suggestions for your first game :-).

I grabbed the UI mod and installed it into the Customization folder. When I select it as a new theme, it crashes the program reporting a parameter is invalid.

The AI improvement is now included in the Extended Universe 103, correct? SO I could get those both in one install and then figure out how to combine with Daz Chrome?

Yeah, and it's very easy.

Load the default theme.
Unzid Ai mod 1.03 version extended in the theme folder
Unzip the content of Das Blue in Ai Improvement mod folder.
Start the game
Load the theme.

Start a new game.

PS, Das Blue mod is already included in Ai Imp. Mod 1.03 I think I checked the folder and the ressources seem to be the same.

Thanks. Just to be clear. AI improvement in included in extended 1.03? Or do I need to mix those two together. Sorry to be obtuse, but your answer seemed more directed to AI mod + Das Chrome

Kids these days!!

It is so very easy? Not one word of that made sense. "Load" "unzip" "default theme" "folder"
If I was computer literate I would have a job!!
Remember adding machines? I could drive one of those.
Easy.

1. Mod SKyrim with 300 mod and make it work using many different tools, memory manager, load order manager and so on... Making patch to prevent crashing and make all the mods compatible between them.

2. Then mod Distant world with 3 mod...

Modding Distant world is very easy :P
But if you never modded before, you need to read a little. HeHe
