A couple of books I've read recently which I found interesting.

Joachim Ludewig's "Rückzug: The German Retreat from France, 1944"
From Cobra thru stabilization in September, mainly from a German documentary perspective.
Emphasis on perceived Allied failures on both ends of the line: failure to clear Antwerp
approaches and pocket 15th Army; failure to cut off Army Group G. Much more emphasis on the
latter than I've seen before. Overall, a detailed view on German perceptions and
actions during these crucial few weeks, with Model and Blaskowitz as the key figures.

John Nelson Rickard's book of the Lorraine campaign. I think excellent as a real operational-level
history and analysis, unlike the common mixture of overly-general top-level with over-detailed small
unit tactical narrative.
