Converting older SP Scenarios

I have a great scenario from SP1 that is an adaptation of the old squad leader, Hill 621. Is there any way to convert it to SPWAW scenario format?

Yes, there is. Look at the latest manual (v5.0) on pages 168 through 171. A step-by-step procedure is listed out, but a word of caution, it does not look like it is for the faint of heart, although many people have done this.
Good luck!

Per above, lots of ways to screw up the conversion, almost as easy to start over. Extract the map, use the existing scen as a guide, unless it is a monster battle might actually take less time.
To the difficulties I would add that even if the unit(s) carry a "*", there can easily be units which are not going to make the transition in terms of graphics. If that happens, the user ought to be able to spot the incorrect graphic while in the Editor (other than CAS, I suppose) and do a Replacement manually. So far as strike aircraft graphics, who says a DD can't fly?

Conversions from SP1 are not possible as far as I know. SPWAW was done based on the original SP3, so the game engine itself is completely different.
The only way to do it is to redo it. Now if the scenario was done in an earlier version of SPWAW, that is possible.
You would load the older scenario into the 7.1 game. Then make any changes necessary. The biggest changes would be in the OOBs. If the unit has been changed or relocated, you'll get the default icon, usually a half-track.
You should replay it a few times as balance may be affected.
I plan on converting all my older WAW scenarios and some of the much older SP1 and SP3 scenarios including campaigns to SPWAW and offer as a Wild Bill Gold package.

WB, thanks for enlightening me. I and the rest of your forum army are very glad that all of your experience didn't retire too.

Thank you gentlemen!
I'm still here in one capacity or another for the duration. I'll be announcing the arrival of a bevy of new scenarios spread over numerous sites in the next few days.
They cover a little known theater of war, the CBI. Considering the scope and the importance of what took place there, I feel attention on the area has been far too minimal.
Who hasn't heard of the Chindits, Marauders, Stillwell, Chennault and his Tigers, and the famous fall of Singapore?
It was a unique situation and begs for attention from wargamers.
