Not loading good

After downloading directx 8.1 , divided galaxies will not download good on my computer. When you are at the point of watching the files being downloaded to your computer. The files stop and the sound skips then it goes back to down loading , then it keeps skipping . So once it is down loaded it starts to play the movie part then it locks up my computer. Can anyone help me on this matter. The disk won`t even down load on my lab-top with windows x-p Help I have been told my tech support by email that it is not the disk , but i think it is , plus Dell thinks it is the disk also. Stayed on the phone for 1-hour with them Help
