Air-Refueling question

Any way to tell the receiving aircraft not to refill to the max? Ex. If I setup some tankers between a CVBG and the target, my strike will top off to full before striking -- no problem, that's expected. Once the strike has hit the target and is RTB, I send up another round of tankers. My intent would be for each returning striker to take on a partial fuel load, to like 20%, so they had plenty of loiter time to file down and land. They don't. The first couple aircraft suck the tankers dry and the rest fall into the ocean while they wait to land. DOH!

Hi Bill,

Yeah - while A2A refueling has been improved - I don't think there is a way to control the amount yet...

Scott

You can micro manage it....change the strike aircrafts direction or turn off AR

If you are manually managing the strikers, not actually RTB ordering them but routing them towards home yourself, if you order a group to refuel I think it distributes fuel evenly over all group members.

Other thing you can do is during each refuel when happy with fuel ammount, hit u to unassign tanker, refuel stops, then after you can reassign tanker to whatever mission etc you had it on and order next one to refuel.

I have checked the Manual and searched the Forum, but am having trouble setting up air to air refueling for my aircraft.

1. I would like my aircraft to refuel enroute to their targets, is there a way to accomplish this?

2. How can I tell which tankers are compatible with which aircraft (ex. 707 and 747 tankers in same scenario)?

3. Is there a way to tell how much fuel an aircraft has remaining?

1. Sure make sure the refuel ROE is set to yes and set up a tanker orbit using a support mission. If you like manual control right click the unit and select refuel if possible.

2. Open up the database display. Under properties you can see the types available for the aircraft to be refueled and for the tanker its under properties and under the loadout.

3. Yes. Select the aircraft and look on the right hand side under UNIT Fuel. You'll have a green bar which is a visual queue as well as some measurements below. You can't get this for a group but only for a unit (as they all have different levels).

Thanks for your help! The Scenario I am having problems with is Attack on H-3, Iraq vs. Iran 1981.

Is Wing Drouge the same as Probe Refueling?

I am dealing with 707 and 747 Tankers, and F-14A, F-5E, F-4E aircraft.
