Arnhem on the Spectrum 48k. Used to play it on hotseat with a mate, until we worked out that by massing the allied artillery, the Germans could never win

Don't recall its name, but it was a carrier battle game based on early Pacific war. Midway, Coral Sea, and a couple other scenarios. Maybe Santa Cruz, and Eastern Solomns? I think it was an SSI publication.

Some fond memories of this one.

But I think the first 'sim' I ever played was Elite on my C64. After that MS Flight Simulator on a 286.

SCRAM followed by Tigers in the Snow. Both were on a cassette tape. I was so happy once floppy disks were invented. It made game play so much easier.
The first ones I had on floppy was North Atlantic 1986 and USAAF.

Yep, "Sub Battle" made me get my first color monitor. EGA three colors. But it was "Battle Hawks 1942" that drove me to get a full color VGA monitor. The games were already driving my hardware choices.
