[LOG] Ship navigating on land

Scenario "Basic Training: Warship Operations", build 570
Steps to reproduce:
1. Right after finishing Phase III plan an ASuW (Naval) mission in the C1/C2/C3/C4 area and assign USS Stockdale to the mission.
2. Switch to 5 sec time compression
3. The AI starts navigating towards a random point in the patrol area. The plotted course cuts through the San Clemente Island. With the 5 sec time compression I can see a course that goes around the island flash on the screen for from time to time, but it immediately reverts back to the direct course. After a while USS Stockdale happily plows through the island.
Attached:
Save with USS Stockdale in the middle of the island.
Recording that shows the intermittent correct course (check 01:37:09 Zulu -- the correct course is plotted, however both the step before and after show a direct island crossing course).

Anything else I can provide to help reproduce the issue?

Likely some missing terrain allowing the ship to pass. Will add this to our list.
Thanks for reporting and sorry it happened!

I've seen this happen several times. For me the easiest to reproduce is to give a ship refuel/unrep orders. If the unrep ship is on a course towards land while the unrep is underway then the ship given the unrep orders just continues on the same course after the unrep is completed, ignoring any coastlines.

Coastlines and refueling should be fixed in the coming build but let us know if this is not the case.
Thanks

Tested in 1.06 (build 624) and it is still broken. The problem here is not that the game engine is not aware of the terrain. It seems to be aware of it, but it for some reason chooses to ignore it. Please check the recording I attached above, or just load the scenario attached to this post -- start the simulation and switch to 15 sec or 1 minute time compression. You will see (now and then) the plotted course briefly switch to the (almost) around the island route (so it is aware of the terrain), but then it reverts back to straight course across the island. The ship will even start changing its direction for that one simulation step, but then the course reverts and the ship eventually plows into the island.

I saw this as well same scenario where the Russian ship passed through the island and nailed my helicopter which was flying on the other side

Game is very aware of the terrain but the data on it isn't perfect which leaves holes that the navigator may plot through. If you can we'd greatly appreciate any save of it you can post so wan fix it by filling the terrain data.
Thanks!

Two saves are attached to this thread. One in the first post with the ship already in the middle of the island (saved in 1.05), the second few posts above with the ship about to plow through the island (1.06) -- just increase the time compression and wait.
