Crash when moving units

Hi,

yesterday I failed to resist my urge to buy WitW :)

Too bad I cannot play the game, because every time I try to move a unit by selecting it and right clicking hex, program gets stucks. Windows reports application is not responding and I have to kill it via task manager. Same happens when using invade button.

Since there seems to be no reports of this from others, it seems to be related to my spesific setup (Windows 7 64bit, i7-4790K, 16Gb RAM, 2xGTX970, Samsung SSD). Yesterday I did not have much time to try to fix it, but I already tried out to change various preferences in game, it did not have any effect. Today, once I get back home from work, I will try to reinstall game. Besides it what else should I try out?

By the way, I have also WitE installed and it works just fine.

I'd try to rename sound folder to something else and try to run the game.

maybe a Sli driver issue? as i can't think many would even have Sli for wargames, but maybe wrong as i don't know what the mix of testers were either, but Sli isn't normally on top of most lists either or needed, so screen res used as well might be worth a shot, or not[8|]

Yesterday I had SLI disabled, because Far Cry 4 has known issues with it. Mainly I got SLI for a steady 75Hz framerate when using supersampling in Elite Dangerous with Oculus Rift.

I vaguely remember having crashing problems at some point with WitE too with my old PC, and fix was to uninstall a spesific codec pack. So it might be a sound issue (my sound card has not changed). I will that sound directory trick this evening, thanks for pointing that one out.

We've certainly see crashes caused by certain codec packs before. Uninstalling any sound or video codec packs is a good troubleshooting step to try.

Yes, I can confirm that it was a codec issue. First I tried to rename sound directory to another name, after that game did not crash. Then after restoring sound directory I investigated if I had some 3rd party codec packs installed. Turned out that a codec pack called 'LAV Filters 0.63.0' (MaxVR video player suggested installing this) was causing the problem. Uninstalling codec pack enabled playing WitW with sounds.

Thanks for pointing me out to right direction. I actually should have thought of that myself since I had same kind of problems with WitE a long time ago. I am really getting old :)

Anyway game seems to work fine now, apart some minor issues with text overlapping in menus when using 125% font size in Windows.
