Few noobish WitW questions

Curious for Germans on some questions
- best way to utilize Limited Luftwaffe
- WitE front unit shuffling? Any bang for buck removing or adding Luftwaffe?
- when to start building forts in boot of Italy?
- movement of Luftwaffe to and from East.
- reducing manpower on certain non (or less) essential units (HQs, AF bases, etc). Disbanding units..
- any thing else that could be useful for a first German WitE player. Is there any value to moving units to East in hopes of slowing Russians down in hopes of being able to pull more out in mid 44 to 45?
thanks for any answers...

I will try this one.
All He-111, HE-177 and DO 217 put in II F Corp based at Foggia. This is a long range naval bomber group.
I put most fighters in Germany.
I don't mess with EFB
I build a fort line ( 2nd line ) just north of Naples asap. The divisions are the first line, its a waste to use FZ where your infantry will be. I bring in 2 infantry divisions and split it up to build first line.
HQ's and AB's need a min of 91% ( I set at 93%) or you get -1 per 10 under. As far as disbanding stuff simply follow the rules of WitE.
The is ALLOT of fat that can be trimmed.
Reserve reactions are supper important and a layered defence.
NEVER let any units get pocketed.

I am still messing with air system.
The naval bomber group is really good.
I might try 50/50 system. LW can put up a good fight in 43.
You have to inflict loses on WA's. Allot is going to depend on who your playing.

Pelton, please provide more details for us newbies. I know you are trying to help, but using acronyms and statements that we don't understand is confusing. What is LW? What is WA?

Think he means setting TO&E levels for units. I'm not sure reducing TO&Es is even necessary or a good idea, so I'd ignore this tip until the statisticians have had more time to analyze things in game. In WitE managing your long term army size via TO&E levels was a part of the campaign that could make or break your game. In WitW, Germany will inevitably be crushed and every battle is potentially a critical one so running around with anything weaker than max sized units will probably hasten your collapse.
But Pelton may very well be right and reducing TO&E levels may be a necessary part of long term survival. I just don’t think enough time has gone by yet for a declarative statement on the issue to be made yet one way or the other.

I suspect he's talking about the penalty to leader admin checks if the HQ is below a certain TO&E percentage.

Thanks guys. It's funny how folks very familiar with the game system will use acronyms like it's regular language. [:)]

A few tips for you jzardos about East Front:
- you can't win there, so don't get too wrapped up in it. There to add flavor for those that like to have access to most German units that participated in WW2.
- good idea to bring over Mountain units and replace with regular infantry. Very useful in Italy to slow down WA.
- also, swap out the better Fw 190's from east to west for other fighters.
- bring over SS mobile units and swap out for regular Pz PzGren units. Usually equal trade as stated in manual.
- make sure east front has required HQs, this is important to maximize unit effectiveness. West can spare some corps level HQs to send East.
Will post more if can think of it. I'm far from an expert on WitW still lots to learn / explore. But that is the fun part! [8D]

Good tip - I always do this and those Mountain troops are very useful in Italy. Just send some units East before you send them West to minimize any morale hit.
- bring over SS mobile units and swap out for regular Pz PzGren units. Usually equal trade as stated in manual.
I tend to send a few more mechanized/panzer units east as well and replace with some infantry units to slow down the Soviets a bit in 43 and early 44. You may want them again in the west in later 44 though, but they do make a difference on the Eastern Front.
- make sure east front has required HQs, this is important to maximize unit effectiveness. West can spare some corps level HQs to send East.
Yes, there are almost always a few spare Corps HQs in the west.
I'm sure others will come up with new and different strategies for the East Front box.
