Dumb questions:
In the Husky Scn see Blida airbase at 83, 297 containing a British rail unit. There is a level 2 airbase there containing 7 squadrons but when I click on the hex all I get is the icon of the Rail Group and not of the Airbase yet when I click Maison Blanche right next to it I get the Airbase appearing on the right side in the info box. How do I get access the Airbase info in the right info panel when I click Blida?
When I roll over the Blida hex I get a pop up which tells me the Airbase size and capacity and damage (dam) and "det". What is "det"?
I can't remember where I saw an explanation for the turquoise and purple circles when selecting an airbase. What do they mean?

1. Access the airbase unit in an occupied hex by clicking on the location name in the upper right corner of the display. This will give you the location window which lists the airbase unit in the upper right. Click on that and you get the airbase unit.
2. det = detection level (in this case by the enemy). A detection level of 0 is no information while 10 is everything. The higher the detection level the more accurate and effective ground and air combat is against that unit.
3. They are the aircraft range markings. I believe they are: turquoise is effective flight range, purple is extended flight range, and black is transfer flight range.

What is the meaning of the black circle in some locations in the middle of a rail line? Thanks,

Those are towns whose name does not show up at lower zoom levels (i.e. you are zoomed out too far for the names to appear).

Moved amphibious units into Messina and Palermo (for a couple of examples) getting ready to invade the main land. Preparation is slow. Got me to wondering what I can do to speed things up.
1) There is substantial port and manpower damage that I can repair using Admin Points. I would assume repairing the port would speed preparation time. Is this correct?
2) Would moving a headquarter units (like 8th Army) into the port help? Can't assign any support units to amphibious units. Would having engineer units in the port help?
3)What else can I do to speed preparation?
Thanks,

Take your TF's back to Africa and the units your going to invade with. But to answer part of your question, you can use an admin pt to sped up the repairs.

Preparation time depends on port level.
So the bigger the port, the better. And using a damaged port will be slower. If you are in a damaged port, I think you can move to another port and keep your precious prep points. If you want to stay there, you can set the port as a prior candidate for repair. Nearby HQ's will take care of sending repair units there.

Yes, I discovered the speeding up of repairs.
Still don't know if level of port damage will delay preparation. There is something funky about port damage in Sicily going on. Ports start with significant damage that repairs itself as turns go by. Historically the Germans trashed the port of Messina before crossing. This damage is in spite of my air directives holding off on port attacks.
If port level makes a difference does priority also?
After looking up the historical invasion ports in Africa I pulled my amphib units back to those ports. However 8th Army invaded across the Straits of Messina. Need to have that up and running.
Thanks for answers so far. Keep them coming.

Waiting on your ports to be repaired in Sicily is going to be slow and if you have any TF's trying to gain prep pts for another invasion, you'll wait awhile. Yes a damaged port reduces the amount of prep points you get a turn (I don't know the exact formula), and port size and how many combat units your trying to prep determines the amount of prep pts you get a turn. Running back to Africa may seem strange, but you have some level 6 ports that are already fully operational, and some level 4's. I almost forgot the other part you asked about. If you set your port that needs repair to priority 4, it will be put on the list in the order you ordered the repairs in. You will also want a higher priority because it takes supplies to repair ports, expand airfields, so on and so forth. I believe that a priority 4 port will be repaired before a priority 3 port, and so on down the line. You don't have to expand every air base and you use the priority system the same way. So be sure of what you really want to expand because you only have so many construction units to go around. If you see some repairing useless rail lines or low priority repairs bases/ports send them back to their HQ and let them get reassigned.
