I'm preparing to invade mainland Italy and have my Amphib HQs planning. I also have infantry divisions in port with them.

WHAT am I missing? how do i get the infantry I want to invade to be assigned to the amphib HQs?

Divisions stacked with an Amphib HQ with a target will get so many prep points a turn based on port size and units in the port. The more divisions/units you have stacked with the Amphib HQ, the less points you will get a turn. Once your Amphib HQ has 50pts it can invade, the other stacked units only require 30prep pts to invade, but you risk high casualties if you go in that low on prep points. One other thing is that you should reassign the ranger's and other commando units back into the Amphib HQ, so that you get the bonus from them when you do invade.
