A game that would hit the ball out of the park and become an instant classic would be one something vaguely like an Ageod game of the Thirty Years War, only using the Pike and Shot system for combat resolution.
In that context it would be easy to overlook departures from historical verisimilitude in the tactical resolution.

Never thought of AGEOD doing the Thirty Years War, but I like it, with or without the tactical module.

I'm not a big fan of tactical resolutions in strategic games, but the Pike & Shot system (warts and all) is far superior to Ageod's quirky version of abstract resolution. The alternative would be a simple abstract resolution without so many moving parts which don't make things more realistic and attract bugs.
