What does integrity mean?

In manual it says it does not influence combat,
"It shows you how much of the troops in the unit’s OOB are actually present
within that unit. It does not influence combat, but it does influence the chance the unit
will break in combat." I don't understand what it means...
Do losses of 20% lower the integrity by 20% and the OOB your are reffering to are the maximum strength "Sollstärke" in German, or what does "actually present in that unit mean?
How can it not influence combat when you have less troops?
Is it only important for a test against 50%, so if I have integrity of 90 or 60% the same, and 40 or 10% is the same too?

Btw: very very good game!! It needs only some explanation here and there...

for me it means in the game terms anyway, the state of being whole and undivided regarding a unit etc

Integrity influences the chance a unit breaks upon suffering a retreat result in combat. Integrity % is just a simple check of current unit troops versus ideal TOE/composition for the unit.

A unit breaking ceases to exist immediately. Its the worst possible outcome for a defender :)

Oh.. and different peoples (SS, Wehrmacht, Soviet, Romanian) have different breakpoints. So only when the breakpoint is reached there starts to be a chance for a unit to break when retreating. Chances to break are a sliding scale and should be around 0% just at breakpoint and 99% around 1% integrity.

Thanks Vic.
So if I see German Inf Regiments they all have the same max strength, and the integrity bar shows to me the weaker and the stronger regiments in one glance. Right?
