Ok I won't attempt to say how great it was, mere words are inadequate.

But if anyone says anything negative about it, simply ignore the person, they are obviously crazy.

This film can't be rated on any normal scale.

And to think, there is one more to come.

Life is good.

I hope that there are two to come. I want to see these people reach back and do "The Hobbit."

So should I like buy the first one on DVD or can I just like umm...go watch the second?...oh yeah I never saw the first one:(

The second one assumes heavily that you have seen the first one. Be sure to watch it before going to number two. Even if you are a Tolkien "grognard," a lot of stuff won't make sense otherwise.

Well the movie was good that is for sure. But a little point, it didnt follow the book much after the mid point. And the finally battle doesnt end per the book either.

But I liked it and will be seeing it again, my son hasnt seen it yet so have to take him at least ).

I liked when the first movie had Gandalf falling off the bridge in the self-sacrificial pose; quite impressive and surprising indeed.

For those, that insist on nit picking a film as good as this, git yer butt back into the game OOBs slave, you don't have time to recreate commenting on a film.

You are supposed to be busy over analysing wargames.

And who said you could take time off to watch that film anyway?

Peter Jackson said that the Two Towers movie would vary the most from the books, but felt it was in keeping with the feel(?) of Tolkien. I know the Fellowship of the Ring varied from the book in some ways, but I think it worked well; and considering the length of the books...there were going to have to be changes.

New Line executives were very worried that the Two Towers would lose anyone who didn't see the Fellowship of the Ring, but Peter Jackson was adamant that the number of people who would see the second film without seeing the first was small.

I would suggest you rent the Fellowship of the Rings first.

Haven't seen it yet, but I was worried about the Ent treatment. From the trailers I see that they are in the movie but were they represented well? If it only half-way follows the book it is still going to be all action, all the time. I can't wait to see it. My girlfriend is sick so we didn't go see it on opening night.

And by the way, why would you even think to watch Two Towers before FOTR? It's one story, not like the Star Wars trilogy(ies).

The Ents rock ! When reading the books I envisioned them a bit more massive. But hell, they are really cool !

I don't see how it would. You know, the book is always better than the movie (except Band of Brothers, IMHO).

I'm happy to hear about the Ents being good. I can't wait!

We`ll have it here in JAnuary or February. Grr... But I`m looking forward to see it - I want to see Ents:))

Hmmmm the madness has taken its toll here in New Zealand and Peter Jackson is a national hero

I saw the movie yesterday with my son (during the same time my wife and my daughter were watching Harry Potter II...). Well, we really appreciated The Two Towers: it was really superb!
What a pitty to have to wait until end of 2003 to see the third part of the trilogy...

The movie is absolutely fabulous. Strangely, I think it would be best if you have not read the books; but definitely see the first movie. There is no recap at all. The deviations from the book, although necessary I suppose, kind of bothered me.

Ok it's several days since the movie now, and threads to Two Towers abound.

I have even witnessed a thread mentioning that the "People" involved with the Twin Towers want this movie renamed (ultimately idiotic notion).

Ok first off, stop thinking any movie anywhere, made any time, will ever be entirely like its novelization.
There WILL be differences.
So commenting there were differences, is like complaining that water is wet.

Second, if you didn't like Two Towers, stop trying to convince her to swallow, when she finally does, you will complain about that too!

3 hours...man I could have sat through 4 hours and smiled all the while.
When the last one is finally shown, I will go out and likely buy some all inclusive release, so I can do an all at once complete viewing (I like anime though, and often watch an entire series in one go, like watch all 12 hours of Neon Genesis Evangelion).

There is no "ultimate comment" on this film though, any more than there is a proper response to "honey does this dress make me look fat".

In the end, Lord of the Rings has been the best film entertainment of my entire life.
That includes having seen Star Wars opening day, so long ago.
Best fiction I have ever read though, is still the Dune series.
But Tolkien rules my number one slot in Fantasy Literaure.
I am glad they didn't ruin it like they did the movie Dune.
Now that film I hated.
