Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

I guess I am a little disappointed that playing WITE is not does not mean I can play WITW.
tutorial videos are rather terse.

Which AAR recommended? any other tutorial sources?

thanks!

The tutorial videos are fast-moving, and I had to watch some twice because the information goes by so fast and is so compact. Despite this, the tutorials are only a starting point and not nearly enough to get a good handle on the game, especially for new players who have not played WiTE.For the moment, there are hardly any other videos on Youtube, so one is stuck with discussions on the forum, where responses to questions are usually forthcoming. There are also a few AARs that are very useful, but again not nearly enough. This will probably change with time.I would not be surprised to find out that running this game is more complicated than running the real war.Patton's "Grab them by the nose and kick them in the arse" is not enough to run this war in a competent manner.

The videos are a great place to start, but yes, you may have to watch them twice.

Have you looked at the Player's Guide, including the "one page summary" parts at the end of it? Those one page summaries are really neat.

There's an AAR from beta days stickied at the top of this forum; it's well-written and informative. But I find all the AARs in the AAR subforum helpful, too.

Me, I'd played WITE, so after watching the videos and flipping through the one-page summaries, I just went ahead and fired up Operation Husky. Maybe just try it and start asking questions here if you get stuck. Lots of us are happy to help. (Not that I myself am any great expert, but others are.)
