I am playing and replaying and testing a turn one standard siciliy invasion in the grand campaign.

Can anyone confirm what a model invasion would look like with end of turn VPs? After turn one, I am looking at like -40 VPs for casualties.... crazy when I am getting like 7 for strat bombing and losing another 5 or so for U boats. What am I missing?

How does one mitigate the HUGE vp losses for troops?

The first few turns you can expect to lose vp's, but as the game progresses and your strategic bombing catchs up you should start to see a positive balance. Also use US troops when you can, less vp loss.

The Turn 2 VPs include the cost for the starting casualties that get the replacement pipeline primed. So both sides begin with losses that slowly come back or are transferred into permanent losses each turn. The VP costs for these losses are evaluated during the first VP assessment phase and you get hammered. After that the VP loss/gain will even out (or until you lose the 1st BR Airborne Division in an airdrop and lose 20-25 VPs for that . . . )

[:D] I've done that! One game Hitler had to create and entire new department to handle all the paratroopers I lost. They used up so many resources being housed and fed, that I won the scenario [;)].
