I was editing the Goslar scenario to bring the off map artillery back on the map when I got the attached error in the scenario editor. I also noticed it didn't always take my unit description so for example I would name a unit '2/2/3 FIeld Rgt' and it would save it as '2-' and would not let me rename it as the name for some reason already existed. I am running version 2.08.

I will check this out Monday when I am back home. We did, out of the blue, see a similar error message while working on things recently. We could not get it to reproduce. Hopefully your report will help us track it down.

The program will default"2-" name if there is already a unit with that same name. Are you sure it was not "2/2/3rd Field Rgt" and you had not deleted the off map unit with the same name? That will also keep you from renaming a unit using a name already in use.
