Greetings and Happy Xmas to you all!
Please help me out. I'm thinking of purchasing CMANO as my Xmas pressie to myself, but would like some info from you guys in the know first.
I played Harpoon waaaaaaaay back in the day and absolutely loved it, but always preferred the smaller scenarios to the larger ones. I wasn't particularly internet savvy then, so wasn't able to discover if there were fan made scenarios that would satisfy my desires.
Approx. how many of the official and fanpack scenarios would you classify as 'small', and when I say small I mean around a dozen or two units. I prefer the more intimate exchanges, rather than the might of USA vs China type affairs.
If you can throw in the names of your favourite small scenarios too, I might just put you on my Xmas card list for next year! [;)]
Thanks for your help and Happy Festive Gaming!

I prefer smaller scenarios as well, and love Command too.
There are a lot-in fact the bulk of scenarios in the community pack are small.
For the official scenarios, you have Battle of Latakia (Yom Kippur War), Sea of Fire (Falklands), and the "First Contact" series.
If you can throw in the names of your favourite small scenarios too, I might just put you on my Xmas card list for next year! [;)]
The Battle of the Turtle Islands (warning, it's hard)
Operation Journeyman
I recommend Command. [:'(]

A fair number of scenarios are "small" (defined as <= 30x AC and <= 5x ship), at least if you only count the units under your control. The majority, though, have a small force against a larger fixed defensive force, so it really depends on what you're looking for. However, I would say that there were quite a few (dozens in the CSP) simple scenarios that aren't US v. China big.
In terms of my favorite small scenarios, I would say the following:
Choking Halifax - single-ship submarine operations
Black Gold - naval/air power to protect/strike oil rigs
Caribbean Crisis: The prelude - Nice single ship ops with a twist
Oyashio on Patrol - more fun sub stuff[=
There are a bunch more like these, too.

If you like smaller scenarios, then I recommend scenarios by Mgellis (Mark Gellis) -> interesting scenarios with a small force and a lot of fun. You can find them in the
Community Scenario Pack or here in the
Mods and Scenarios section.

Most of the official and community scenario fall within the small scale, apart for named already I recommend all Mark Gellis scenarios which are small scale too.

Thanks gents for all your answers, downloading as I type.....
Any advice on the best way to ease myself into the game? I'm guessing a browse of the manual, followed by working through the tutorials, then a thorough reading of the manual. Is there a 'beginners' scenario that is good to get the teeth into once I've done the above? Are there any youtube videos that are recommended viewing for those new to the game? I'm eager to dip my toes into the icy waters around the Falklands, but how soon should I take on the Argentinians?
Thanks once again for all your suggestions, I'm gagging to get stuck in!
