I don't know what error #8 is. You did register the game, right?

Can't post links or screenshots, but it shows up under the Matrix Members Club for me with correct serial number.

Post a ticket with Matrix, altough it will take a week before they are back. This is a new error, which is probably related to their server.

I'm getting the same thing. How does one post a ticket?

The full error message is: Error = 8. User name invalid: < 4 or 21+ symbols; illegal symbol (e.g., blank). Unable to access Seeking Opponent database.

Make sure the first two lines of the NetPlayReg.txt file in your World in Flames folder exactly match (including case) the username and password you set up when you registered the game.

I was able to fix this by going here: http://matrixgames.com/community/oppone ... sp?gid=296 - and manually creating an opponent request which seemed to fix the backend bit.

They do. This error appeared after I found out that requirement and fixed the error caused by using a different user name.

Didn't work for me, unofortunately.

Ok, first, make sure the game is registered here: matrixgames.com/helpdesk

(it should show up as World In Flames - Registered)

THen sign in here: www.slitherine.com with your helpdesk username and password, make sure all your accounts are merged, and change your password, then re-try posting for an opponent. This is what I did to fix it.

Ok, that worked ... I suspect the password change had more to do with it than anything else, as I was able to successfully post for an opponent earlier, it just didn't fix the problem.

Thanks.

Sorry, not up for a game yet, I've just been messing around in anticipation of setting some games up in future.

Your request did leave me somewhat tempted regardless, but it's stinking hot here at the moment and I lack the necessary energy.

I'm in Australia, it's 9pm at the moment ... I might be up for some Barbarossa tomorrow afternoon, if you're interested and don't mind the fact that I'm going to be playing at a very low level of competence.

NetPlay Barbarossa is working not too badly. There are some issues with naval combat and invasions and you may run into phases you want to skip but there's no green light to click on to end that phase. You can get around this by doing something appropriate to that phase and then undoing it. Then the green light will be on.

This thread should be a sticky.
