Amphib HQ Question

Recently got this game and barely learning to crawl at the moment. Played through the Husky scenario ..... (had my hat handed to me as the Allies) .....

One questiom (for now), is how long should you keep the Amphib HQ at their invasion target hexes ? I realize not an issue for the short Husky scenario, but the campaign scenario's are a different story ?

I keep the Amphib HQs at the beaches until I have repaired port capacities sufficient to replace them (i.e. 3 port capacity per Amphib HQ which is more than the 2 that the Amphib HQ supplies, but usually required with all of the additional ground and air units rushing through the beaches).

If you have two or more invasion beaches that touch one water hex, you can pull the extra Amphip HQ's out and just use the one to supply all two or more.
