Does the Desert Fox meet an untimely end in the game like in real life? Can I expect him he to be at his post in Army Group B or is he scripted to go forward with the July plot?

Let me know, cause if he succeeds I won't bother invading Northern Europe [;)] . The war would be over.

Yes, and the men in 'Inglorious Bastards' will be very disappointed, too.

It could be feasible that he succeeds with killing Hitler but the Allies refuse anything but unconditional surrender. Maybe the western powers would negotiate, but I doubt the Soviet Union was going to stop.
Also you forgot this movie:

Turn up the detail, you can watch him get strafed.

So if you are playing a full scenario then he does die? That's crud if it is the case, your replaying history not watching a dam documentary.

It is very likely that Rommel get executed or removed at some point as his political rating is only 3 but it wont happen every game.
Generals with low political rating rarely last full campaing. Am fairly sure that losing generals are just random events as in my allied game Patton got killed at second turn. Am fairly sure there are no scripted events but generals who got historically removed have low political ratings making it more likely to get removed.

I guess that Jakerson is correct. However losing Rommel is not the end of the world. Anyone who thinks that one commander on either side in WW2 makes the difference is not playing a war game, they are playing chess. One of the bits I enjoy about this game is adapting for these reverses...

And there are replacements at hand like Schorner to take his place. I'm also getting Kesserling booted early in the game (happened in at least 3 different games) and he's got good stats too.

In many full Campaign games had Rommel commanding AG-B until the end.

In a server game, I lost Kesselring to a bombing raid I guess. He was 10 hexes from the front in Army Grp C! I've lost Patton in other games after Sicily when he slaps that soldier and gets reprimanded. I think 2by3 should put a clip of that movie in the game when Patton gets relieved?
