Railnet issue

Post by pompack »

Can anyone tell me why the marked hexes are NOT part of the railnet?

1. There are no adjacent enemy units
2. Marseille is only 12% damage and is landing supplies
3. The rail lines have been repaired for two turns

didn't embed, try again, too big and out of time, Try again next year [&:]

try again

To repeat

Since the port is connected by sea (blue line on the spiderweb display) to a National Supply Source, that ought to be sufficient for repaired rail lines to be part of the network; note that some hexes are OK but not others???

Bit hard to tell. First thought would be the railyard in port is damaged.
May be easier to see a save if possible.

Well, the marked hexes flipped to the railnet as soon as both the port damage and the railyard damage dropped below 10% so it is not clear which was controlling

The fact that the rail hexes adjacent to the port were in the net does suggest the railyard

Here is the before save (file marked .zip but really .sav as usual)

Yes, i would say it was the railyard damage that was holding it up

thank you

for some reason I thought the net would be operable but with no rail points and would gradually increase capacity as rail centers were repaired on the net

The dotted line in the rail hex meant it was repaired but could not trace a path back to a valid permanent supply source. The railyard in the 'supply source' wasn't repaired enough to act as valid source (for the rail network).

It does look like it projects the supply path into the surrounding hexes of Marseille as they are showing connected. Haven't really noticed that before.

Michael thanks for explaining that one, I was wondering about it.

I'm not able to download the saves. It says they are corrupted when I try to download them.

Thanks, managed to download it and send it to Gary. My guess is that there was insufficient rail capacity on the network, so some odd legacy rule kicked in and only allowed rail to be connected within 1 hex of the port. At least by the next turn everything is connected.
