BA2 as tactical learning tool

I'm looking for a game that would teach me the proper uses for infantry, armor, etc. at the tactical level.

Will BA2 do that? I mean, if I don't use proper tactics with the varying types of personnel and weaponry, does it really matter in BA2? Or is it simply a 'last unit standing' shoot-em-up?

You definitely have to use realistic tactics but as it is turn based there are compromises. It is not a simulation but definitely captures the feel of the period. Infantry have to use cover, tanks need infantry support to spot enemies and take difficult terrain, AT guns in ambush are a threat to tanks but cant do much if anything to infantry, etc.

This definitely not a shoot-em up type game. You must know the capabilities of your units and how to use terrain to your advantage. The AI isn't the brightest but you still must exercise battlefield awareness. If you play other gamers you will be in for really tough fights.
