[WAD] Diesel submarines assigned to an ASuW mission

The AI starts chasing contacts on flank and quickly depletes the battery. The subs then just lie dead in water. The AI never considers rising to periscope depth to recharge the batteries. In the attached save two subs are already "dead", the third will meet the same fate if you wait long enough.

This is WAD. There are unknown contacts within 30 nm of the sub and this prevents the sub from coming up to recharge batteries. (This is BTW a legitimate and historically-used tactic to pin down a diesel sub)

Quick questions, what is a "WAD"? Anyways, interesting tactic, I also appreciate the explanation.
