Does an amphibean can be a carrier aircraft?

The idea is for L-4 Piper planes that operated from LST's - so need to be a "floatplane" i think, and at same time able to operate from carriers.

Within the confines of the game programming, that might be the best way to handle them as far as the a/c entry goes but don't know how to get the LST fixed other than converting some to AV types in the database. Was it just some kind of temp planking type stuff or was it some kind of actual conversion done to the LST?

The game engine doesn't really support them. Those aircraft were used for artillery spotting for the most part and there is nothing in the code to support that.

Planking and some LST also had a airborne recover system.

wdolson they might increase the detection levels.

I suppose you could make them a recon aircraft.

That's what I was thinking would be the only in game function for them.

Golly, you really want to use L-5s in a scenario? The answer is no. Don't much care how you want to designate them, the answer is no.

No authorization for a nice dandy L-4 flying above the beaches Admiral Symon?

All you want Dili. Make them do whatever you wish.

[ed] just don't ask for any more info from here, unless you are looking for a gyro recipe.

Well if Jap fanboys can play with gyro Ka-1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayaba_Ka-1 , it is fair Allied fanboys can play with Piper.

In the WitP system, I've found short ranged aircraft to be pretty useless. I suspect the L-4 would fall into that category. It would have very short legs, low operational altitude, fairly vulnerable to ground fire.

Actually, good point. If IJ can have a Ka-1, why the heck not have L-5s. These days they qualify as a light sport plane so one doesn't need to pass a medical to fly one. Anybody could be a pilot. [;)]

[ed] Here's the gyro recipe. It's actually pretty simple if you have a food processor.

wdolson the L-4 in game can only work like IRL, increase the detection levels of the hex and those contiguous of a naval invasion.

PS: don't tell anyone that a pilot put 6 bazookas in one and was attacking German AFV's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Ca ... t_colonel)
