i just fought off an british advance in the North Africa sector where my battaion held on and after the battle i rewarded em' with the Pz IIIH , but i was surprised to see that their old kills were old gone... so its basicly getting new units.. with the old crew gone... i don't think this is really realistic
Lehr...it's the same crew...

but since they have been upgraded to a new vehicle type, they will lose some of their experience since they must now become familiar with the new equipment.
Actually it's a good system for simulating the effect on crews when they have to go through the process of being trained again.

Just make sure you don't change an infantry unit into a tank unit and vice versa. The units keep their same base values with a minor reduction for having new equipment.

Lehr, are you saying that you had crews that survived and then upgraded and lost their kills or were these units that were Ko'ed and then replaced with the IIIH's? The kills should have stayed intact if it was the former, but with a decrease in ratings as Orzel said, but if it was the latter case then the kills will be gone as it is a new crew.

Yeah, really! I've never noticed that. What were you playing, a mega campaign, a WW2 long campaign or a generated campaign?

Small infantry units moving slowly ( 1 hex at a time), pause look around at least 180 deg. and move again. I have even turned off my units weapons so as not to take a chance on reaction firing. Like Goblin said. Pray. Wait till you have to do this in the jungle against the Nipponese. Woo, boy that's a fight!!!

They are, but it gets worse in the jungle. You can get an idea of what likely range your units can spot the enemy by generating a battle and playing around with your spotting modifier in preferences. Jack it all the way up and you'll be amazed at what's hiding in waiting for you. Keep reducing it down and eventually you'll get a feel for how effective your units actually are at seeing the enemy.
Good luck.
