So you want to Expat?

If ya wanna expat there’s lots of nice places, but you can’t go wrong with Chile. Aside from all the usual stuff, I had to have a suit made. Have to be back in the States for a dinner and reception with the Governor and a candidate. I am not one to wear a dark blue (grey, black), loyal plastic robot, suit, so wanted something different.

Got an ecru tinted, 4x, linen suit that fit perfectly in every dimension. You wouldn’t believe how smooth and laid down it was, everywhere. I have some Abbots from Newport Beach, and this is every bit as good. The Abbots start at $1.5k, this was equivalent USD $238, and fit like a glove on my misshapen body.

Yes, gonna go to the Governor’s Ball with my sister Jeanne. Will be “dressed” to the nines. She’s wearing a dark grey Chinese silk cocktail dress; with an interwoven blue dragon motief, that I got her in Hong Kong oh so many years ago.

Might not get listened to, but we’ll sure get some attention.

Still live in Fairhope and will continue to do so as long as Mom is alive. Still have my US passport, but visit Chile often. Have an outstanding invite to become a Chilean from the Chileans. Have land there and have established a school to train Chilean sailors for Olympic competition. Although I am a Norte, the Chileans seem to like me.

When Mom passes, I will have to make decisions. I can go to Chile as an expat and still get my Social Security, or I can go to Chile as a Chileno and take what they give. For me, it's brainless. Life here in Patagonia is what life is meant to be. When the time comes, I will turn in my US passport and become a Chileno. No regrets. John
