Matrix Games Forums

I started OT today, which means working 7am-5pm Mon-Fri, and 8am-4pm on Saturdays. This will go on for 3-4 months. The only good news I can see is the extra money, and it helps pad my retirement, as I'm a state govt employee. However, this really cuts into my gaming time.

Oh, well, I have one more year to go, as I'm planning on retiring in 2016. I've been employed in state government for nearly 30 years, so that's plenty enough for me.

Honestly, now that I think back on it, the time has passed quickly, so the next two years will be a cakewalk.

Boo hoo.When I work its 10 hour days,sometimes 12's,14 days straight and 6 days off.Before I worked 24 on 4 off.

just think of the money, 15 years ago when i first retired, i used to work long hours 7 days a week, and did it for a few years to pay off a debt when my marriage failed, over time and now i'm older i'm glad i did, as the money came in handy and now later in life i'm mortgage and debt free, so work hard while your young and party longer when your older...

and think of all that gaming time once you have been set free, as it won't be long[;)]

I hate when work gets into game time.

Have done the retirement thing with a little dough to spare. So bought a game for some fun time. Alas, bought WITE, product (well it sucks), community (let's be polite). Do have one gaming buddy. Like to find another. You know somebody who lets me win all the time. Chuckle.

Interesting thread .... I knew the WITP-AE forum was made up largely of "older" gamers but never really thought about the Matrix Forums generally. So what is the average age of Matrix computer war gamers I wonder?

Probably older than we may think. I am 60...my first wargame on a computer was Decision in the Desert on an Apple IIC

I regularly work 9 hour days and I think nothing of it. It is just expected and I have a good job, so I am not complaining.

18 years of working 70 hours+ a week. Now, the last 2 and a half years sitting home has been a welcome change. Still employed with a trucking company. since they don,t have lite duty been receiving workers comp checks. Fortunately, its enough so the wife and myself can cover everything. What a long and drawn out process it is being in the worker compensation system. If I could have found a job similar to Glenn's when I first started out. What I, felt strongly is, I'm sure I would have been more satisfied. Since, having this break I saw immediately how I missed out on a good portion of my life.
