pass it on to someone else like Red Lancer, or make 7 more post then you can do it yourself m8, as 10 post is the forum rules etc, to stop spammers etc etc

I love the German Unit symbols. The first time I ever saw them was in the old AH monster game, The Longest Day.
I am an old (board) wargamer and just purchased WitW. Can you tell someone like me who is a little long in the tooth, how to download (exactly) these German unit symbols so that I can use them in the game? I am not very Tech savy and beyond "on" and "off", my skills with a computer are non existent. Thanks

Click on attachment in post #8
When you have downloaded the file unzip the contents to the War in the West/Dat/ART/Units folder
Voila!

Thank you SO much, Red Lancer. It Worked and the new counters look great!
This is probably a dumb question, after the fact, but is there a way to return them to their original NATO symbols? When I moved the file, I "copied and replaced". I probably should have saved the original file, no?

I think John included the original files in the zip file you downloaded. You just have to remove the new files (the ones without original in the name) and rename the "original" files so they don't have original in the name.

Thank you, Joel.
All Your guys' help in this matter and the unbelievable quick response to my queries is quite impressive, and most appreciated.
I look forward to many, many hours of enjoyment playing this game (and hopefully others as well).
Thanks again.

I love these counters. the only drawback is that the unit symbol does not show army colour when the preference is active.

Yes, I love them too. But for the same reason I had to go back to the yucky nato ones.

Hmm...I wonder if I can edit the unit graphic to make a 'hole' to allow the colour to shine through. Or would it just show the map through the hole....I will have to test that.

Yes - just add a suitable alpha mask and the colour will shine through the hole.

As I wrote (above) when I first imported the modified unit counters back in Sept, I am the "village idiot" when it comes to computers so if anyone cares to detail exactly "how" to add an "alpha mask" so that i can get the Army colors to shine through the counters, I would be most grateful.

Have you done much graphics work? I can help but this is not quite beginner work. What software will you be using.

(Modding etiquette is that you ask the originator's permission to mod his artwork or give plenty of credit where it's due)

John, I have not done ANY graphics work and I don't own any software. Obviously modifying the counters requires a degree of knowledge that I simply do not posses so I shall continue to use the counters, "as is" until either the creator or someone else makes the changes and makes them available for our use, here.

Thanks for your help.
