Adding New Equipment

[&:]I recently bought Allied Corps and wish to add some new equipment, but am overwhelmed with the complexity alluded to in the forum. Is Allied Corp modified the same way that Panzer Corp is? Is there a very simple way to do the changes without using a combination of an editor, Excel, Notepad, and GME? I am not confident that I am computer savvy enough to wade through all that and end up with a functioning, modified program. Please have mercy on a Yank in over his head.

Allied Corps should mean the exact same thing as the main PzC in terms of editing the files. Of the things you`ve mentioned, the editor that comes with the game is actually used to make the scenarios (and adding the units in the scenario), not add new units. Excel is not strictly needed either. It just makes it easier to see what you`re editing if they`re displayed nicely in separated columns and cells, but if you know what you`re doing you can just as well use Notepad to add new units. GME is only used if you don`t want to overwrite the original files from the game as it sorta swaps the two sets depending on what you`re using. If you make backups of the files you edit though it`s not a mandatory program either in order to add new units. So basically the only one you strictly need from your list is Notepad.

There`s a guide at the Slitherines:

I think there was an unit editor too made by someone to make editing units easier, but I don`t know if it`s up to date.

Thanks so much for your quick reply R35. If I understood correctly, the only problem I might have is if I modified and then saved a scenario under the same name as an unmodified file. If I saved under a new name there would not be a problem.
I am working on a true to history D-Day scenario that will start on 06 Jun 44 and end on or about 01 Aug 44. I have not seen or read how many units it is possible to have, but I am hoping to have Regimental and Battalion sized units (about 600 total). I have almost finished my research and as soon as I get some new units, mostly artillery, I will be ready to start putting them on a map that I am working on. The U.S. had a Battalion of 155mm Howitzers in every Infantry division. The "Long Toms" included in the game are the same bore size but have about a 50% greater range. There are no 240mm or 8-inch Guns available to the U.S. either. The Germans used 194mm Italian Guns for several of their 1100 series Battalions of independent artillery. The Atlantic Wall and Channel Island Forts are apparently a one size fits all as modeled in the game but for anti-shipping duties actually were from 15cm up to 380mm with widely different ranges and rates of fire. There were at least two locations where 240mm Railway Guns were based. There was a German 100mm Flak unit near Beauvais -- but don't know where they obtained the guns. The Germans also had several 75mm Flak units as well -- perhaps obtained from Belgium? I would welcome some help in finding suitable pictures for these units (and instructions on adding to the game) that would match the ones in the game. Anyway, you can see what I am trying to do.
Again, thanks for your kind help.
