Wow, this game stinks!

I mean, I go through all the trouble of getting it and Kate Upton did NOT show up in my village to help me fight in her armored push-up bra. What a rip off!
Oh, wait, thought this was the Game of War forum. My bad!
Read the write-up on the new mission planning "stuff" coming up. Was wondering if there was a roadmap for map/terrain fidelity? I was challenging myself to try and construct some very small, land-warfare w/ CAS scenarios from the book Team Yankee and realized that I really couldn't. I realize the focus is more Sea/Air; however, I was curious if the terrain mapping is there and used for NOE type of strike routing? Or if it was more "blobby" because of computation/memory/database requirements would be insane (quite understandable since the map is global).
Cheers!
(Feel free to change the subject to "Question about future map detail")

As you correctly assume we started from the best-at-time available global-scale terrain model, SRTM. This required some heavy massaging to adjust data to our needs but has worked out alright so far.
Now that higher-resolution sets (like ASTER) are available we can start using these on an as-neccessary basis. You will _probably_ see an example of this at some point after v1.07 (no promises but prospects look good).
Thanks!

LOL. With our budget you might get Uptown Kate[;)]
Thanks for the laugh and we'll definitely look into your issue for it.

Thanks for the responses...not so much an issue to look at, more my curiousity which Sunburn has addressed. I have noticed quite a few "my munitions didn't drop/planes didn't attack" questions over time which track back to a theme about the cloud layer and visibility. The answer to that, lower level, requires more approach masking since you are now within the engagement envelopes of nasty thinks like Shilkas.
If not Kate, how Xena...she aged well based upon what I saw in Sparticus.

Another example, for those readers among us: First Air by Michael Skinner. While I was "eh" for the first half of the book, the initial strikes are the type of thing I am envisioning where F-4 Phantoms did some SEAD work followed by low level passes by Tornados with cluster munitions which had used terrain masking.

I think we can settle for pictures from the database and leave it at that!

In my eyes a 688 class is far more beautiful than Uptown Kate.

I thought about googling an image for Uptown Kate -- and then I thought about your budget... all $2.75, and decided I was better off not knowing.

For that budget, i'm sure Roseanne Barr would volunteer to be the woman in the commercial. Of course, that would be like a WMD release and send the other side running for cover.
