Basic captured PP question

Hello again

Another quick basic question this time regarding PP values after a city/fortress is captured. As I understand it when a city/fortress is captured by a unit, the country of the unit’s origin receives the PP amount associated with that city/fortress on their next turn…and as long as they hold it. First, am I right on that? Second, I was under the impression that if that same city or fortress (or any other city for that matter) is attacked/ bombarded that PP amount is decreased. If that is true how come that after I capture a city the PP seems to go down even with no subsequent enemy attacks? And most of the time it goes to zero very quickly. Is this reduction automatic regardless of combat circumstances? What are the rules of the deterioration of a city/fortress PP?

Thanks for the help.

Howdy

When a unit captures a hex or city hex, you will see 2 flags associated with that hex, the flag on the right represents the previous owner, the flag on the left represents the new owner and will stay that owner unless that same hex is recaptured by the opposition on a later turn. The capturing unit does not have to remain with that hex for any specific time or turns, it can move on and "not be occupied" or "occupied by a friendly nation's unit", however the hex will keep the flag of the original unit doing the capturing. Because the city is in ruins after being assaulted, it should take a number of turns before it starts to produce points again (Take note: any points produced will go to the nation that did the capture). The harder a city is fought over, the longer for it to bounce back to recovery, especially if artillery was involved. The only time a city "losses" PP is: When it is being attacked, either by land units (artillery garrisons, infantry, ect.) , sea or air units that drop bombs. It's easy not to notice this during "replay" if you are not paying attention closely.

If anybody who knows lua can chime right in to give specifics or has a different point of view to add.

Great.

Does that mean PP can regenerate? If yes, I don't recall it ever happening. If not, once it hits zero the only extra value the hex has is as a supply source...except if it is a Capital - loss of which would cause a morale hit. For example, in the initial German attack Liege always falls and it's PP becomes zero. Should it remain zero for the rest of the game even after recapture?

Thanks again, for all the help!

Yes Liege will generate 1 PP after awhile, how many turns, that I don't know.. In the meantime it is not a supply source, just another hex that does not produce points (but not always the case). . Again, because Liege took a pounding by artillery and infantry assaults, possibly air, the place is a wasteland... It will never give CP it's full PP as it did for Belgium, read the manual, a captured city at best never achieves more than half of it's original PP value..

OK. Thank you once again for clearing that up for me!
