My spies repot that the Japanese Empire is violating our mutually agreed upon naval treaties. They are drawing up plans for fast battleships with 16 in guns, 16 in gun battle cruisers, more carriers. Maybe even more smaller ships.

Leaders of the free world are we going to stand idlely by and let them disregard our treaties or shall we modernize existing ships or build new ships to counter this threat. Are we Mice or Men?

Men who keep their word.

Not those in dreamland who believe that their heroes could conquer India & the Pacific even though the harsh truth showed they struggled to supply a Regimental sized force in the Solomons, relied on capturing supplies to make the Indian frontier and couldnt even beat the Chinese!

Neither, but hamsters would be appropriate. If Japan arms, we would be 'discouraged', we would make 'pronunciamento', We would be 'concerned'.

Frankly, we wouldn't do jack-all, till the political situation allowed for the Vinson plan. Japan can build up a nice fleet without many political repercussions, if they got the balls, and the resources.

Ciao. JWE

What John said...

The US would not have begun a serious rearmament program until the threat was staring them in the face. 1st Vinson shows when that occurred. Second Vinson simply made sure no Fleet in the WORLD could oppose the good ole US of A.

And the JFB's will need more fuel for those ships, repair yard space to fix and update them, maybe HI to build them. More overhead, less profit.

That is EXACTLY what we did in RA and BTS. I kept track of building, expansions, changes, and additions to industry and SUBTRACTED it from the starting Dec 7th numbers. The Japanese get new stuff and more in the pipeline but NEED resources and oil ASAP! Tried to be realistic there...

We also lowered starting pilot experience, some ship experience, as well as other pertinent factors.
