Hello, I've been messing about with this scenario for a bit. It's Falklands '82 and I'm trying to get the San Luis to tag a Brit vessel by laying low in their path and ascending depth a bit at intervals to detect a target, but I always get detected by Helo's and attacked. I've googled diesel sub tactics, but I could use some hints on how to approach this situation [&o]

LOVE the picture on the left side of your posts. Great band, great song, great picture.
Some conversation about that scenario here... theres some luck involved, and (like most sub ops) a lot of patience:

Hi, forget about move to get closer to UK task forces, you'd better make an ambush on the course of UK ships.

Unlike the Argies in real life you know where the landing is going to be. To fulfill their mission the Amphibious Group has to get into San Carlos Water. So park your sub in the patrol box as close to SCW as possible and they will have to come to you. An even better ploy given that you know the landing site is to hide in SCW itself. That way you will be pretty much guaranteed to nail all three amphibs with one salvo. Unfortunately the game mechanics will have arbitrarily awarded the game to the Brits by then after they exit the defined patrol area. It shows well why the Argie subs were considered such a threat and why security over the landing was so tight with a lot of secret squirrel stuff put on to hint at Fitzroy as the chosen spot
