recently lost some carriers and the air units dispersed over several friendly airfields.

Now I just have have fragments while the parent units need to be rebuild and paid for. Is this intented?

Not that I care, have 5500 PPs at this point, but it is annoying to get zero information about it.

Yes, that happens. You can't replace the planes in the fragments. Spend the PPs to rebuild the units. It'll be awhile before they show up.

You can disband those fragments into other still active units equipped with the same aircraft type. That is intended. [:)]

Because, contrary to your assertion, the unit is NOT on the map.

From a coding POV the destroyed unit is in an inactive state, and is OFF the map. What you see ON the map and which is referred to as a fragment/s, is a "different" unit which occupies a different slot from the destroyed "parent" unit. This is all quite intentional because some units, if destroyed, are not meant to be able to be resurrected under any circumstances. Accordingly air unit fragments are treated as separate entities and can not "morph" into the parent slot.

The fragments represent refugee survivors from the parent unit who (along with it's non-flying support personnel and equipment) are now on the bottom of the ocean.

You should feel fortunate you were able to save those valuable aircraft and pilots. [:)]

(though they now need a new home....)

I disband the frags once they are all functional and then buy the whole unit out of the destroyed air unit pool. Sometimes, that is....GP
