arty not 'firing'? no crosshairs etc.

So, I am larking around playing a generated battle, so I deploy, run the arty dialog and no crossahirs are appearing in the hexes selected for indirect fire, yes, they are in range and the units appear to have ammo...and when I run the turn, there is indeed no fire from my arty in the phase for it.

is there something I accidentally deselected etc..or?

Oh and yes, the verbiage at the bottom of the screen in the toolbar says' indirect firing order established'when I select the hex..

Sometimes, data errors in the .oob files will prevent arty pieces from firing properly. Or of course it could be buggy code. I'm not saying that is the case here. It could be player error.

If you were to provide here (as a .zip file, renamed as a .txt file in order to work around the Forum upload restrictions)

[*]the scenario name
[*]your save file
[*]the precise units and locations showing this "error"
[*]any other .org or .scn or ... files pertaining to this situation -- but only if you have modified them, if you are not using the default stock files

if you provide those files, maybe our Data Guys can help figure this out.

After having done what Berto suggests, I have a vague recollection that ghost units could cause something like this as well? Ghost units being units left on map within SCN file, but having been deleted from the ORG file. Something to check perhaps.

Good catch Crossroads!

I seem to remember something like this too.
There is also something with setting off-board artillery and then setting the artillery units on map!?
Neither the off-board or on map unit will work as I remember because the game engine gets confused.

Crossroads you're man...yes, apparently the arty have NO org. co, Bn. parent unit etc. listed when I bring up the F2 box....how they got that way? beats me,, though I am sure I'm responsible. [8|]

Is that a new scenario you're making, or what's going on?

The 'ghost unit' I referred to can only happen by Scenario Designer doing something silly, such as placing a unit into map with Scenario Editor, then after that removing the said unit from ORG file via OoO Editor. It can not happen while playing the scenario.

I used a generate rd battle and added units etc. it appears even if you slide them under the say CORP drop down( the highest command) if you don't seat them IN a unit of type, when you F2 them they have no information as to unit, not even a Company 1 or Batt. designation etc. and they cannot plot or fire arty in the unit...
