American Quick-Response Artillery

I've written about this before, but I must return to it. USA & USMC mortars & artillery have very fast response times, but I would argue that this is realistic, as I have read many instances of American artillery being quick & very effective. Same goes for air response times. Some say that it is TOO fast in SPWAW terms. We all know that the Americans had good communications through most of the war, so why the negativity?

From my perspective, artillery response is just bit too fast across the board in the game.
On-board could be tweaked maybe 0.1 slower in general.
Off-board could be increased more than that.

The US having default 0.1 call times creates playability issues I always cringe at when playing PBEM as it just doesn't allow the target unit any chance to react/move before the artillery hits them.

I don't disagree that US could have faster times, but just not what we have now.

I have no problem with the US having the fastest response times, but no nation should be able to plot artillery and have it land immediately. That just leads to silliness.

For PBEM just agree to not buy FO's. For that matter, don't use/buy them when playing the AI.

Yeah, I rely on the commanders or the firing units themselves to assign targets for artillery & mortars. I don't buy FOs for my core force. For off-board artillery, I always use the battalion CO to assign targets. In this way, I sometimes find the artillery and mortars to be out of communication. This just means that the commo lines have been cut, which is a pain, but it happens in real life, too!
