Very Aggressive SAM units

I am trying and failing to get a SAM site to fire at bogeys: I want to simulate an inexperienced SAM operator, someone who when passed an unknown contact by an active radar that is in range of its weapon to turn on its search radar and targeting radar launch and then turn off active emissions after the contact is destroyed. I want the sites to really light up anybody who gets close. is there a scenario out there that implements this SAM logic that I can study or maybe somebody with more experience writing scenarios can chime in.

To have a SAM site shoot at anything set the WCS ROE for air contacts to Free-fire at any contact not positively identified as friendly. You want to add it to a mission to control EMCON. If that is the case best to set all EMCONs at the mission level (mostly so you remember where you set it).

The Weapons Release Authority settings help a lot too. You can either have a hyper-jumpy site that launches way too many missiles at the target, or a cautious, hesitant one that never fires more than one no matter what the opponent.

For devs notes on it, see here

You can also build a SAM trap using AAW patrols, relatively small prosecution areas, and the right mix of EMCON settings. On the computer at the house I've got a test scenario I built, but the same mechanics are in Op Balpara (tm.asp?m=3772100).

Look at the two HQ-16 units on the Militia side. They get outside target cueing from the Indonesians, and once someone is inside the designated engagement area, they launch.

I didn't invent this, I know credit goes to someone else, I just don't remember right now who it was. But I thought I'd share, because I think it does most of what you're after.

I re-read your message, attached scenario isn't quite what you were after... but it is a nasty trick to play on someone. :-)

Thanks cf_dallas, I've been aiming to make some "challenge" missions that involve overcoming tough air defenses. I'll try to adapt this concept to one of my challenge mission.
