I could have sworn there was a thread on here about the new Command Ops. I thought I saw one while checking my phone at work real quick.

Am I going even more nuts?

Not nuts, I remember seeing one this morning as well... Someone must have disappeared it, though I can't imagine why as there are plenty of other threads on non-Matrix published wargames in the general discussion section.

Well if you are nuts, I could just be a creation of your sub-consciousness designed to convince yourself that you are sane...

But back to reality, the thread was getting fairly harsh on the new Command Ops pricing model/ pay for patch, so I'm guessing it got deleted over that. Probably best to just post over on the LnL forums (where I've been harsh myself on the subject...)

Must have missed the part where it got harsh.

Could anyone provide the URL to the forum where LnL was supposed to clarify the model? Can´t find it now.

yes where is that thread gone? i expressed my initial alarm at reference to there being ongoing payments for updates for CO2 but then someone referenced a grogheads post that suggests this is not the case, which i was relieved to here. I never wrote anything offensive myself, at least as far as i can tell. though i was alarmed as i had just bought CO2 and was not aware of any mention of recurring payments being needed. Perhaps some posts following mine went off the rails? i guess i should not query too much about this lest this thread also disappear.
in summary i will say i just got the CO2 game and havent had a chance to play it yet due to work but look forward to it when i have a respite

I think the old topic was to focused on the pricing policy. In my opinion they should close it and write why and delete after a while.
You can find official statement about pricing policy on LnL forums and that place is best for questions about it. They should also put information that CO2 is in a open beta not a full release. They have to improve communication with customers.
I played a little CO2 last night and for now it's not worth the money if you have CO1. The old ui is better for now. New after some polishing will be better in my opinion, but for now it's not (some things are unreadable on my laptop -1366x768). Game feels very sluggish it's not a big issue but very noticeable when you play CO2 after CO1. I think CO2 will be great game but it needs some work to get there. The bundle is tempting but for me there isn't enough new features tu buy it. I will probably wait for mounted ops and that is 2 core updates away.

Link to pricing clarifications and also the store page was updated to indicate this currently is a beta release.

This is one game I'm taking a wait and see approach on--- I'm just not comfortable with the paying for data updates and want to see how things work after a few major update cycles. At least the free engine gives us all a way to keep tabs on how the system is looking, which is a big positive.

Then again, maybe it will be a system that works. I initially hated Paradox's mass of DLC model, but now I have absolutely no issue buying a unit sprite pack on Iberian Horse Archers from the year 1034, given how much excellent content the model has allowed them to add into their games, and the continual free patching/adding features to the core game itself. Then again, unlike in CO's case, Paradox always updates the core engine and any DLC you have to the latest version, so curious to see how things work out for CO.

Hi all,

This might be a "word" thing but my understanding is that patch "fixes" and "hotfixes" will always be FREE. Only new and/or upgraded versions of the engine with new features/capabilities will be charged for. The scenario packs will ALWAYS be charged for and will constitute the bulk of the games revenue generating capacity.
Any Panther / LNL lurkers who'd care to comment? [;)]

Rob.

Rob,

I am more than happy to answer queries over on the CO2 forum at LNL but I am obliged not to comment here.

No need to apologise Rob. It's just that I entered into an agreement with Matrix when we parted ways not to comment on their forums in a way that would entice people away from Matrix.
