Hmm..For a few turns I have had a few Germans not fortifying or digging in.

I thought it seemed random, but I think I have isolated the cause. It appears that units that Rail to a spot, and detrain in that spot without moving by ground are not eligble to ever dig in.

Or perhaps the thought of a pony mod has put them all on strike.

Anyways as I know how you love your voyeurism, you can peek at my Germans and catch them in the act of doing nothing in my server game with DicedT. Specifically in the:

7th Army-LXXXVI Corp-276th Division and 363rd Division.

10th Army-Kneiss Corp-26th Panzer div and 2nd Panzer Div

1st SS Korp-1st SS Panzer Div just got off the rails, so you may want to take a look at him.

Oh..there also seems to be a bunch of divisions belonging to the 19th Army - LXXXIII Corps not digging in either.

Normally I would give you the exact locations of these miscreant divisions, however that information is top secret/need to know, and nobody has told me.

Hmm..it might not have something to do with RR after all..the SS and FJ that I railed (and subsequently didn't move) decided to dig in..the other units are still on strike. I am going to try moving them to see if that shakes them up a bit. Although the weather has cleared and it's late May. I suspect they won't have much time for any digging anyways.

Reading the rules on fortifications has illuminated me on many things I didn't realize.

Entrenchment value for a unit is divided by 5 if adjacent to an enemy unit..except values derived from engineers.

You can only dig in if you are within 20 hexes of an enemy unit. Probably explains the guys in the middle of France not digging in...and I must be just outside that range with a the other ones.

You don't have to meet the lower requirements to dig in...so if I put a fortification unit on those guys, they will start to dig in.

Yes, with the Pony mod, TM, units don't dig in per se, they sometimes get stubborn and dig a hole though.
