I'm not a fan of Panzer Corps\General type games\gameplay. So bearing that in mind should I stay away from this release?

How abstract is it as far as scale goes?

Thanks

Definitely check the videos and AARs. That being said, this is very much in the tradition of Panzer Corps/Panzer General. It is, I think, more complex, more nuanced, and more compelling, but the essential gameplay is units of abstract size and somewhat generalized identities on maps of indeterminate scale in IGOUGO one unit per hex (well, an air and a ground or sea unit can be in the hex) action. So, yeah, it's Panzer Corps derived, and inspired, for sure. It does play, for me, a lot differently though; there's a lot of theater-specific chrome here and the "feel" of the game is more meaty IMO.

While it plays like those series, it has done away with a lot of the unrealistic stuff, like a friendly airplane hovering over a hex keeping the enemy air from being able to attack that hex.

Air mechanics are quite good (and need to be for a Pacific theater game).

I would say it is a much improved Panzer Corps-type of game.

As far as scale goes, the units are of indeterminate size and category (i.e., no way to tell if something is a brigade or a division). Very Panzer Corps-like in that regard.

However, I do consider it a worthwhile game, but badly in need of a patch (which I guess is probably soon coming).

Thanks everyone.

Not knocking this game in particular but I do hope we start to see some innovation in future wargame titles as it seems 90% of releases here are either PC like or a sequel\part of a series.

For a much different wargaming experience, check out Vietnam-65 or any of the Shenadoah games (Bulge, Moscow, Desert Fox).

I'd describe it as Panzer Corps-esque but somewhat deeper and more realistic.
