what is the meaning of the large yellow explosion type flash on a unit during Combat?
what does the + sign mean that sometimes appears during combat?
What is the significance of the arrowed lines between a unit and enemy when there is no battle noise and no casualties?
Thanks

a commander has rallied those troops, so it must have failed a rally dice roll

Do you mean the yellow flash on the unit? Do you know what the other two things represent?
Thanks for replying.

well without saying manual too many times, i'll post my views and comments from memory, so more than likely wrong anyway,

explosion is a morale fail then dice roll recover, + means a rally from a commander or auto rally from brigade or unit itself from any number of reasons regarding combat, brigade, stance, terrain, arrows are line of sight spotted but no combat etc

now i'll go and check manual to be sure then edit b4 anyone see's [:D][;)]

morale 20.9 and advanced rules, somewhere, like i said, it's a wild guess so maybe wrong, but will be amended when developer see and replies.

I think the red arrow showing up during battle across the map are a bug since only artillery can reach that far.

Never seen any + or - during battle besides on the objectives.

Hi Zac.
Thanks for the replies. I have read the manual - a couple of times - and I did see a mention of the arrowed lines somewhere, however when I looked again I could not find the entry. Possibly the Shiraz or stupidity. Probably both. Coupled with information in the Battle Report, I suspected they were sighting related.

Even with a close look at 20.9 I could not see any mention of the yellow flash or the +. When previously reading the manual, I had found no reference to them either.(that doesn't mean they aren't there).
Excellent game that gets better with each play.
Thanks to all concerned.

either of the developers may chip in with correct replies, as mine are more guess than actual knowledge tbh

I think when the unit panics.
what does the + sign mean that sometimes appears during combat?

Uhm...not sure to have seen these signs.

Sometimes it happen even if out of range and therefore no supply used, like Aceous I think is a bug too.

The arrows show an attack consideration, not necessarily an actual attack. We didn't show this originally -- once upon a time we only showed arrows for effective attacks -- but some of the testers asked that we show all the arrows, so I changed it, and nobody had complained about it until now [:)]

The + sign during combat is probably the combat ranging hex. It appears when a unit has ranging on a hex (because they fired on that hex in a previous round and made their ranging check [which is related to their quality]).

The flash occurs at different times when commanders either rally a unit or protect the unit from panicking.

Thanks Eric for concisely answering my queries. It wasn't a complaint in any way. The game is a triumph. Zac - if I personally was right 50% of the time I'd
be happy. Thanks for your input.
