Were Sherman optics better or something in the fog??

I got a case on the Tirepied map (second from top right in grand strategic map view) where none of my Pz IVs can see the enemy tanks like 90% of the time!! When foggy, I mean. Like, sniper tanks!! [X(]

Fog effects both side equally. However, spotting is not unit to unit. Once any unit spots an enemy unit, all friendly units are aware of it. So if some US infantry team can see your Pz IVs, a Sherman that is too far back in the fog to spot the PzIV directly can still fire at it. This is blind fire, however, which has reduced accuracy.

How do my people notice even infantrymen but not a big fat tank right in front of them???

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking -- can you provide a screenshot?

Fog limits the maximum range at which you can spot the enemy, and reduces spotting chance so they usually have to be exposed and in view longer before you get a spot. If a tank is beyond the maximum range you can see in the fog (~200m as I recall) you can't spot it. So if the enemy infantry is close enough to spot your tank, and their tank is beyond the maximum range you can see in the fog, you can't spot the enemy tank. Not unless you can get someone within spotting range of it.

If I can't seem them, how come they can see me so well -- did Shermans have better tank optics or something??? 'Cause to my mind, fog physics should work the same for both sides: if I can't see you, you can't see me!! [:-]

Instead, I keep getting killed by SNIPER TANKS...the computer ALWAYS SEES ME AND HITS ME!!!!! [&o]
