I'm playing US...January 1943...hardly any plane production...e.g., dauntless only 20/mo. in Los Angeles and the only fighter being produced is 20/mo P-38 in Los Angeles. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks much

You could play a mod that changes aircraft production levels. What you get for Allies in game is pretty close to history, however, there are a couple of caveats. The SBD-3 stays in production until the -5 is introduced. Production levels for the -3 are correct, but Douglas doubled production for the -4. The -4 had about the same performance as the -3, so it isn't in the stock game. Many mods add it.

The PBY-5 also pretty much ceased production by the end of 1942 to be replaced with higher levels of -5A production. About the same number of airframes were produced, but almost all PBYs produced after late 42 were -5As until the -6 came along late war.

In any case, every other Allied aircraft I can think of has historically accurate production numbers.

Are you just looking at on map production? Most of the Allied "production" is in "off map" shown as replacement rates instead of factories. Allied west coast production is as you see it based in LA, SD & Seattle but most of Allied production if it was on map, would be represented at the US base but rather than stock that base full of a/c factories they just used set rates of replacement of the different types.

Compared to the IJ side, the Allied player has virtually nothing to do in this line.

There is one consideration, though - the automatic upgrades that occur to some Allied factories can be premature. IMO it's better to turn all Upgrades to Keep, when the factory begins production, & retain manual control over the changeover.

Then you can build up another month's production of an existing Fighter, or retain production of the USN's PB4Y-1 Liberator.

I have a problem related to aircraft production indirectly.

Aircraft produced in the states and accumulating at San Francisco cannot be loaded onto ships for transport to the theatre of war. I have followed the instructions as best I can.

I create a TF for cargo and then dock the ships (Is docking immediate or do I wait days for that?) then I indicate the docked ships should "load cargo".

Then I proceed to the aircraft section and select the aircraft to "transfer to ship" when the screen opens up no ships are listed.

I haven't found any specific AV type ships so I have been using the AK. The TF created is for Aircraft Transport. I can't really see what I have been doing wrong but I have stopped playing until I can figure this out.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Create a transport TF, not cargo. Dock it, and planes should load.

Ray: do your air units have a restricted HQ?

Ensure the planes are unrestricted.

Form an Air Transport TF. Not transport. Air Transport. xAKs primarily, plus escorts. Don't think xAKLs work.

Load them with "Load Troops". Not Cargo. A little non-intuitive, but in this case they're troops. They'll be shown in the possible-load stack along with grayed-out LCUs. You can sort and select from that screen.

Planes will load instantly and you can leave at the end of that orders phase if you cancel the supply load and undock. If you don't the code will seek to fill out the remaining space with Supply.

When they get to the destination the TF must Dock to unload. You can't unload planes out in the harbor. You need an (implied) crane.

Just one more advice: before you load your a/c, divide it in A/B/C and then load it into three ships; this can save your squadron against sub attack (if they sunk a ship you lose only 1/3 of your a/c squadron).

Then it takes three ships and more fuel. And more dock space to unload. I risk it. If I lose it I can buy it back. In all my time playing AE I think I've lost fewer then five air units to attack.

Thanks so much for the plane loading information it really clarified things for me and I understand now how it works.

The question of "restricted" comes to me though. I have obviously now seen that some are restricted. What does one do to alter this or can it be?

It seems odd, I have some aircraft that I could use elsewhere that are located in San Francisco as totally useless and unable to be moved.

Any ideas?

Again, really. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
