Although the game allows up to 400 formations I am only allowed to purchase 200ish units (it sometimes allows up to 203).

Is there any way I can increase this limit?

Remember - it's (IIRC) 400 formations and 800 units for both sides !!

And easiest way to get to 400 units is - buy larger formations .. most OOBs have complete Co.'s in it - sometimes under "misc.", so watch out for them Image

PS: You don't really want to play with that much units, do you? If you're getting bored with zipping units around, try C&C ...

I have tried everything but there is know way I can buy over 200 units including buying whole companies. It simply stops at 200 even if it half way through a company, and I have only bought about 50-60 formations.

We have found out that the game cannot possibly handle 400 hundred formations. So now the maz is around 200. It was causing all kinds of problems including the repetition of lettering (you would get two A0 units) and some units not appearing at all on the roster.

The only cure was to go back to 200 formations total...counting formations of both side. Usually one side maxes out at around 100.

I just tried it with the newest Utah Beach scenario and that was all I could get.

I'm curious.

What is the force size (regiment/ division/ many divisions/ ...) for a force using 100 formations?

You cannot have 100 large formations, the program will stop you with 200 units (vers. 4.0) Image.
Wehrmacht:
A bataillon would have 3 companies, a regiment 3 bataillons and 2 companies (11 big formations).
A division (Inf) would have 3 regiments infantry, 4 bataillons artillery, and some other bataillons (pioneers, tankhunters, recon, mg, Transport,...).
This would be about 50 formations (company size).
100 formations would represent about 2 Inf-Divisions (1939)of the Wehrmacht.

Here are the stats from my latest scenario, Utah - We Start the War Here

US Forces

Formations: 83
Units: 222

German Forces
Formations: 104
Units: 140

So what do we learn? That you can have up to 200 formations (I can still buy formations for the US) and up to 400 units (I now have
362 and counting).

Just for your info.

But thats during scenario creation, if you start a WWII campaign and but large companies then the number of units will amx out at 200 no matter what the number of formations is.

If someone really wanted more units, couldn't they just sort of edit all the units until they were similar to the SP3 scale?

That is, instead of ten man squads, make every infantry unit have 40 men and call it a company. Every tank unit could be 5 tanks instead of one.

Wouldn't that enable you to have more units? Yes, I know that would not really accomplish much, but maybe it would enable larger formations to be simulated.

That's terrible news. I have 400 units on each side of my big Kursk scenarios... I guess its going to freak out.
